The Anjenna Story: How an Alappuzha Herbal Soap Reached 10,000 Homes

Every brand has an origin story. Ours is not very dramatic: it is the story of a soap that people kept asking for. This is how Anjenna went from a small herbal recipe in Alappuzha to a product used in more than ten thousand homes — and why we still make it the slow way.

Where it started

Alappuzha sits between the Arabian Sea and the backwaters of Kerala. Coconut palms are everywhere, neem grows by the gate, and turmeric is in every kitchen. For generations, families here bathed with coconut oil and herbs rather than with factory detergents.

Anjenna began as Anjenna Herbals, with a simple goal: put that household tradition into a bar of soap that is consistent, safe and easy to buy. The result was Anjenna Plus Natural Skin Care Soap — pure coconut oil with neem, turmeric, sesame oil, almond oil and the rare chaulmoogra oil.

Grown by word of mouth

We did not launch with advertising. The first customers were neighbours, relatives and their friends. They noticed that the soap left skin soft rather than tight, and many found it helped with the everyday problems of a hot, humid climate — sweat, itch and breakouts. They told others.

That is still how most people find us. Reviews on our store mention clearer skin and use by the whole family; others write in Malayalam to tell us their parents have used it for years.

Measured, not just trusted

Trust is earned with consistency, so we test. The most important measure for soap is Total Fatty Matter (TFM) — the share of the bar that is genuine soap. Indian standards treat 76% and above as Grade 1. A tested batch of Anjenna Plus recorded 86.04%, and we print that number on every box.

Anjenna Herbals becomes Daksha Organics

As demand grew, we needed a stronger company structure to invest in testing, packaging and new products. Anjenna Herbals became Daksha Organics Pvt Ltd, registered under Udyam (UDYAM-KL-01-0052533).

What changed: the company name on the label. What did not change: the recipe, the people who make it, the handmade process in Punnapra, and the Anjenna brand itself.

What comes next

The Anjenna range is growing into hair care, health care and Ayurvedic herbs, built on the same principle as our soap: name every ingredient, make it carefully, and sell it directly so it reaches you fresh.

If you have used Anjenna, thank you. If you have not, the easiest way to start is the five-pack — and if you have questions, message us on WhatsApp. A real person in Alappuzha will answer.
